Restoration
Treatment procedures which focus more on the aesthetic qualities of an object or which seek to bring an object closer to its assumed original state (artist’s intent) fall under the category of “Restoration”.
Restoration includes such activities as the removal of inappropriate or aging previous repairs, stain reduction, the addition of non-original material to compensate for loss or damage, and chemical or light bleaching.
